Apartment Therapy published a first-person review of Lowe’s Kobalt Mini 3-Drawer Lavender Steel Tool Box, recommending it as a gift for DIYers and beginners. The review describes its compact storage, stackable design and multiple finish options, but the source does not provide sales data, a price, or evidence measuring its viral reach.
Apartment Therapy has published a first-person review of the Kobalt Mini 3-Drawer Lavender Steel Tool Box, a compact storage product sold exclusively at Lowe’s, and recommends it as a gift option for DIYers. The reviewer says it helped organize frequently used tools in a small apartment; the article does not provide sales figures or data establishing how widely the product has gone viral.
The reviewer says the mini box replaced a system in which paints, stains, hand tools and a drill were stored together in a tiered metal cart. The box now holds items including a tape measure, level, screwdriver, drill bits, finishing nails and an extra drill battery, making common tools easier to locate, according to the account.
The review describes the box as approximately 11 inches long and 7 inches tall, weighing about five pounds. It says the product includes a slip-resistant mat and is available with either two or three drawers. The reviewer also says it can be used on its own or stacked with a compatible Kobalt mini cabinet, and identifies 12 powder-coat finishes.
Apartment Therapy frames the product as suitable both for established DIYers seeking compact storage and for beginners assembling a small tool kit. The source mentions five suggested starter items, but the supplied article text does not identify them. It also includes a disclosure that Apartment Therapy may earn a commission from purchases through its product links.
A Small-Storage Gift for DIYers
The product’s appeal in the review is practical rather than based on a new feature announcement: its small footprint may suit apartment residents and others with limited storage, while the drawers keep frequently used items sorted. A gift buyer can also pair the box with basic tools, although the review does not establish which items fit every configuration or whether a particular starter bundle is sold by Lowe’s.
The stackable design could allow storage to grow alongside a tool collection without replacing the entire setup, as the reviewer describes it. That makes the box a potentially useful alternative to a larger chest for people doing small household repairs. These are the reviewer’s observations, not independent testing or evidence of broader customer results.

What the Review Says About the Box
The source is a shopping and home-projects article by Apartment Therapy associate editor LJ Smelker. It is a first-person product review, not an announcement from Lowe’s or Kobalt. The writer compares the box with a prior storage arrangement and reports using it to keep a personal selection of tools organized at home.
The article also says the box has attracted attention on TikTok, where people reportedly use it for items beyond tools, including beauty and hygiene products and office supplies. That description is attributable to Apartment Therapy; the provided source material contains no TikTok metrics or independent measure of the product’s popularity. Its headline’s “viral” characterization should not be read as a verified sales or trend statistic.
“I now know exactly where my go-to tools are and no longer need to go through the cart to find something simple like a tape measure.”
— Apartment Therapy reviewer LJ Smelker
Price, Stock and Popularity Data
The supplied source does not state the product’s current price, availability, or inventory, and its general notice that prices were accurate at publication does not provide a figure or date. Buyers should check Lowe’s listing or a local store for current details. The source also does not provide dimensions for the compatible cabinet, drawer capacities, a full list of finishes, or confirmation that every finish and drawer version is available at every location.
Apartment Therapy says the box is trending on TikTok, but provides no view counts, sales figures, date range or comparison baseline. It is not possible from this material to verify the scale of that attention or whether it has affected demand. The review is one writer’s experience, not a controlled product test or a survey of owners.
Check Lowe’s Before Buying
No product launch, price change or retailer announcement is reported in the source, so no further company milestone is identified. Readers considering the box as a gift can check Lowe’s current product listing for price, stock, finish and drawer options, then confirm that the chosen configuration suits the recipient’s tools and available space.
Those assembling a beginner kit can treat the review’s gift suggestion as a starting point, rather than a fixed bundle: the article text supplied here does not name its five recommended essentials. Any future claims about demand or social-media reach would need dated sales information or platform metrics to establish the scale of the trend.
